My niece classmate DM me one night. She wanted to get a scarf for her aunt who will be going to winter country. She sent me few picture and decided to go with plain white crochet scarf.
Since it is for winter country I suggested wool yarn to keep her aunt warm. Not going to share much about yarn for this post as for this scarf you can be using any type of yarn as well as any weight of yarn but materials Iβm using for your reference.
Materials
- Crochet Hook sizes 6.0mm
- Tapestry needle
- Wool Yarn, Worsted weight (10ply) yarns X 6 skeins/100grams
- Scissors
Gauge : not require
Finishes Sizes : 200cm long x 20cm width
Gauge
No gauge swatch require. Just make sure you are using correct hook size with the selected yarn.
Stitch Pattern
This scarf using only Single Crochet (SC) working vertically. Mean we start with the desire length of the scarf and repeat the pattern until we reach the desire width.
The Pattern
Start with chain stitches.
I want my scarf about 200cm long so chain to 200cm long. It may turn longer or shorter as you crochet depend to the yarn fiber and your tension.
Row 1 : SC in 2nd Ch from the hook. SC all.
Row 2 – CH 1, turn, SC all
Repeat Row 2 until 20cm width.
I crochet 38 rows in total for this scarf.
Fringe / Tassel
I did not measure the fringe but it will be nicer the fringe length longer than the scarf width. So the fringe is approx 25-30cm long when attached to the scarf.
We added the tassel on every 2 rows. In my scarf I had 19 tassels on each sides.
Cut 3 strands of 50cm long for each tassel.
Insert hook to the hole/spot to attach the tassel pull through 3 strands of the yarn.
Insert hook to the next hole/spot, pull through the same 3 strands of yarn, by now we creating a loop and make sure it is equal half, take the end of tassel, pull it through to the loop tight to secure it.
Repeat until you complete all the hole/spot with tassels.
I leave it uneven length fringe as it look more natural. If you like it you can cut them all straight.
AND so you had COMPLETED a scarf!!!!
