2 years ago today, Lewis & me officially become husband & wife.
We been together since 28 Nov 2011. It was a sudden that I suggested to register marry in year 2020 just because I wanted the date of 10102020 and Lewis said YES? And so we begin to arrange it.
We wasn’t know about the Registration Of Marriage procedure in Malaysia. I was thinking it is just a simple submission and application to get the date and sign at our nearest JPN. Long story short, we can’t get the 10102020, we also can’t get 28112020 because it fall on weekend. They used to open for Marriage Registration on weekend but due to the pandemic, everything changed. So at the end we got 30112020.
So next. The story of getting my ROM outfit. I bought a 2 pieces Satin Gown but because Iโm not a trendy person, I donโt like overdressed as it will make me uncomfortable. I’m not tall and I don’t want dragging or pulling a long dress in the registration office. More over, Lewis choose to wear Batik instead of tuxedo, which mean I can go as simple as I can to match him.
Hence, I purchased a maxi skirt and start looking some idea to make my own ROM Top.
It was the time when I was crazy seeking on white yarn to match with my linen skirt and finally I invested on a little luxury Natural Linen From DMC.
I like the top very much and making it in different type of yarn but with the fit more loosely so that I can wear it in my daily life. Sharing this top pattern as a “Summer Crop Top” as I’m leaving in this tropical climate country, Malaysia.

Note :
- Turning CH3 counts as a DC.
- Make sure the last DC in the row worked in the 3rd loop of the chains as we will need the same st for finishing the side edge.

Hi Nooi! Thanks for your pattern ๐ My gauge is way bigger than yours, even though I use less thick yarn I believe. The bottom row is almost 50 cm instead of the 42 cm you have. Any idea what could be the problem? Iโm also using a 5mm hook. Thank! Warm wishes, Leonie
Same here ! I am using a 5 cm hook and a worsted weight yarn
Hi Cynthia,
Try go done hook size and test swatch.
Happy crochet ๐
Hi Leonie, thanks for picking my pattern. Did you make a gauge swatch ? If you measure 50cm just by the first row done, as you crochet more rows you will get few cm smaller depend to yarn, pattern and tension. But 50cm indeed showing your gauge bigger. Perhaps you can try 4.5 or 4.0 mm hook.
Happy crochet ๐
So I’m starting the armholes on the back panel and one side is deeper that the other. Is that right? Looks off now
Hi Allie. No, there are suppose to be same.
